Sherry (Yuru) Xie is a practicum student completing her Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Counselling Psychology at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. She holds a Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) in Developmental Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology and Business Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles. Sherry brings extensive experience supporting individuals through their emotional distress, particularly the immigrant and newcomer populations. With both personal and professional experience in international contexts, she appreciates the complexities of cross-cultural living and identity development. She works with adults navigating a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, cultural adaptation, and self-growth. She is fluent in both English and Mandarin.
Sherry takes an integrative, culturally attuned, and individualized approach to therapy, drawing on techniques from various modalities including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, and narrative therapy. She views therapy as a collaborative process and strives to foster a warm, nonjudgmental environment where clients can feel safe, heard, and empowered to explore their inner experiences and pursue meaningful change.
