J’mi Worthen is currently pursuing a PhD in Sport and Performance Psychology at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education. Her research focuses on the dynamics of perfectionism as experienced by racialized athletes, the impact of perfectionistic environments in post-secondary sports settings, the use of Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) with competitive athletes, and the implementation of Safe Sports practices. J’mi has earned a Master’s degree in Mental Health and Wellness Counseling from Northwestern University, alongside a Bachelor of Science in Biology from St. John’s University.

With extensive experience in sports psychology, J’mi has worked with athletes across various levels of competition, including amateur, varsity, and national stages. Her primary client group is adults with a wide range of presenting problems. She has training in Emotion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Psychodynamic Therapy.
