Doctoral Residency Program
PCSG is open for doctoral/practicum student applications for the 2026 – 2027 academic year! Residency will take place at our Whitby and Ajax clinic sites.
All candidates must be enrolled in a CPA- and/or APA-accredited doctoral program in clinical or counselling psychology. Candidates must have received formal approval from their program’s DCT to apply for the residency.
A minimum of 2 practicum placements with 600 practicum hours, including at least 300 direct client contact hours and 150 supervision hours, is required to be considered.
Prior to the commencement of the residency, candidates must also have completed all requirements of their doctoral program (i.e., all required doctoral coursework, comprehensive examinations, practicum) except completion of the dissertation.
Applications for the residency position at PCSG should include the following:
- Cover letter stating applicant’s preferred track, training goals, and professional plans
- Curriculum Vitae
- Graduate Transcripts
- Three letters of reference, two of which should be from individuals familiar with the applicant’s clinical skills. The third reference should ideally be the applicant’s dissertation supervisor or graduate program’s DCT.
- Supplemental Material: a comprehensive psychological assessment report authored by the applicant.

Psychological & Counselling Services Group is a multi-function, private practice, psychology and psychotherapy clinic that provides a wide range of clinical services in Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Rehab Psychology, Health Psychology, Clinical Neuro Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Play Therapy, Family Therapy, Couple Therapy and Sex Therapy. We serve children, adolescents, adults, couples and families with diverse clinical issues and complex presentations. We have seasoned psychologists available to provide supervision.
We are a collaborative and supportive team with a strong focus on professional development. This includes individual supervision with your supervising psychologist, monthly group consultation in DBT and EFT and supervision in Family Therapy, Couple Therapy and Sex Therapy as required. There are also weekly DBT consultation groups, peer consultation groups and other opportunities for professional development via in-house training.
We value training the next generation of clinicians, community service and innovation. We have been offering clinical practicum placements since 2007 and was a Toronto Area Residency Consortium (TARC) in the Child Track before becoming APPIC accredited in 2023. We offer free community workshops and a Low Fee Program to those who otherwise may not be able to afford psychological services. Our innovation program includes the Program Using Psychoeducational Intervention for Learning (PUPIL) for complex learning disabilities and Mental Health for Elite Performers for Athletes.
