Martín is a compassionate and dedicated psychotherapist in training committed to offering a safe, non-judgmental space for healing, growth, and self-discovery in both English and Spanish.
Martín obtained his Bachelor of Honors in Psychology from York University, a Graduate Certificate in Addictions and Mental Health from Durham College, and he is earning a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto.
Over the past five years, Martín has worked in a range of social service and mental health capacities. These include community mental health, addiction counselling, career counselling, and crisis intervention work. His experience extends to serving diverse populations, from youths and adults to refugees and immigrants, imbuing him with a deep sensitivity to varied life experiences and cultural contexts.
Martín works within an existential framework, viewing each individual as a unique person striving for meaning and purpose in a complex world. His practice leverages critical multicultural, anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and value-focused perspectives. These guiding principles reflect his commitment to honor each client’s unique identity and experiences, fostering a sense of empowerment and addressing the impacts of trauma and social inequities on mental health and well-being.
In his therapeutic practice, Martín employs an integrative approach, leaning on concepts from acceptance and commitment therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and narrative therapy to supplement his work. His style is holistic, reflective, and tailored to each person he works with.
Some of Martín’s focus areas include generalized anxiety, social anxiety, depression, self-esteem, men’s mental health, couples counselling, life transitions, and career and professional challenges. He also has rewarding experience supporting immigrants, refugees, and individuals experiencing addictions and their families.
