Melissa Kang

Dr. Melissa Kang is a Registered Psychologist (Supervised Practice) with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. She earned her doctoral degree in the School and Clinical Child Psychology Program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education with the University of Toronto. She completed her pre-doctoral residency at Surrey Place, a social service organization that serves individuals with developmental disabilities, visual impairments, and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Dr. Kang has worked with children, adolescents, emerging adults, and caregivers from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds undergoing various academic and emotional challenges. She specializes in providing services for individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities, including Intellectual Developmental Disability (IDD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Learning Disabilities, and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder with co-presenting emotional and behavioural difficulties. Also, Dr. Kang has training and experience in providing treatment to children and adolescents with Selective Mutism.
She utilizes several evidenced-based treatment approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), play therapy, and psychodynamic/attachment-based orientations. In addition to intervention, Dr. Kang offers comprehensive psychological assessment for children and adolescents, including ASD and ADHD assessments.
In addition to her work as a psychologist, Melissa is a certified high school teacher, earning her Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Science with Honors at Queen’s University.
